About

Wilderness/Nature photography and painting is my passion.

I started photography as a teenager in 2005 and now experiment with oil painting as well.

I love to explore the more remote less popular places in New Zealand, mostly in the top of the South Island where I live and work in Blenheim, there are so many special places here I don’t think I’ll ever get bored.

Tramping, climbing and camping high in the mountains for weeks is my favourite way to get my photos and almost always at sunrise or sunset.

Almost all of my photography images are made up of many photos from each location, then digitally stitched together to create higher resolution more detailed images able to be printed very large and still retain great detail when viewed up close.

Most images to varying degrees are not an exact photo of each location... they are composite images/digital art made up of many photographs carefully merged together to create a more artistic view of each location, this takes a long time and I put a lot of work in to make them become works of art.

Very occasionally I will photograph a view/composition that is so good and artistic just the way it is that I won’t want to improve/change much at all... but that is a rare thing.

I love paintings and like to meticulously craft each of my photography composites using digital tools and a few other photography tricks… to make them look more like a painting and less like a photograph, especially when printed on canvas.
